The Federal government requires periodic review and certification that confirms the distribution of salaries for employees who received full or partial compensation and/or are cost shared on sponsored projects.
To meet this requirement, UNC Charlotte uses the after-the-fact method of accounting for effort using certified effort reports that represent a “reasonable” reflection of employee effort on a sponsored project(s).
UNC Charlotte requires that effort for faculty and staff supported by sponsored programs be certified periodically on at least an annual basis.
