Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval of a research study (i.e. approval of the protocol application) is generally for one (1) year. However, in some cases, the IRB approval will be valid for less than a year. For example, the IRB may issue a 6-month approval period after which the study must be renewed.
Renewal reminder notices are sent at 60 and 30 days before the current IRB approval will expire.
Plan to submit a renewal request through IRBIS at least two (2) weeks in advance of the renewal deadline to allow adequate time for IRB renewal review.
