The federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) was enacted in March 2020 to address the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic on the U.S. community. It includes two acts (effective April 1, 2020) that apply to the University and provide paid leave benefits to University employees. This regulation is effective April 1, 2020, and expires December 31, 2020.

If you have a qualifying event, complete the Families First Coronavirus Response Request Act - EPSL/EFMLA Request Form. The Benefits Office will review and respond to you and your supervisor regarding the approval/denial of your request and provide additional instructions regarding timekeeping/leave entries.

To request FFCRA leave in Kronos WFR:

  1. Log in to Kronos WFR.
  2. Submit a Time Off Request.
  3. Select the appropriate leave type as communicated by the Benefits Office:
    1. EMER PAID SICK OVER
    2. EMER PAID SICK UNDER
    3. EMER PAID SICK 2/3 OVER
    4. EMER PAID SICK 2/3 UNDER
    5. EMER FMLEA 2/3 OVER
    6. EMER FMLEA 2/3 UNDER

The approved FFCRA leave bucket will be pre-populated with the amount of hours that the employee has been approved for by the Benefits Office.  In cases where the FFCRA leave only covers two-thirds of pay, the remaining one-third (if designated during the application process) will be reduced directly from the provided leave accrual balance.

Nonexempt employees: FFCRA time off hours should not cause the employee to report more than the total hours allowed based on the employee’s FTE (i.e. An employee of 1.000 FTE should not exceed 40:00).
