  1. Faculty effort is the compensated time faculty members spend on University activities including research, instruction, administration, service and clinical activity.
  2. The Federal government requires periodic review and certification that confirms the distribution of salaries for employees who received full or partial compensation and/or are cost shared on sponsored projects.
  3. To meet this requirement, UNC Charlotte uses the after-the-fact method of accounting for effort using certified effort reports that represent a “reasonable” reflection of employee effort on a sponsored project(s).
